Now an ice-free lake of the northern limit along with Lake Shikotsu, it is located within Shikotsu-Toya National Park. The name &#8220;Toyako&#8221; stems from the aborigine Ainu language, meaning &#8220;hill&#8221; and &#8220;lake&#8221; respectively.  <br \/>\n\t\tTwo breathtaking views, one from Miharashidai Observatory between JR Toya Station and the primary hot spring area, and the second from Sailo Observatory, are a must-see. The quite famous Hokkaido spots of Mt. Showa-shinzan and Mt.
